Best DT in the nation?

The NFL Combine is all about measurables, so let's see how Laws stacks up against his competition in this year's draft class:

(Note: All-everything over-hype machine Glenn Dorsey did not participate, so we'll have to wait until his pro days to see how he stacks up...)

No matter which way you slice it, Trevor is clearly the best all-around athlete among defensive tackles. He's stronger than anyone else, as fast or faster than everyone else, jumps higher than anyone else, and has more production on the field than anyone else. People sometimes knock his height, but he's half an inch taller than the highly touted Sedrick Ellis, who nobody knocks for his height.

In short, Trevor showed the world what I aleady knew - he's a monster. And because of the hype surrounding Ellis and Dorsey, some team is going to get Laws at a bargain price. Hell, anything outside of the top 10 picks is going to be a bargain.

I expect that Laws will only keep moving up the draft boards over the next couple of months, as his interviews and Wunderlich results can only help him - he did go to Notre Dame, after all, where he got a top-notch education. I'm curious to see Dorsey's Wunderlich score, being from LSU and all.

Either way, Laws has done his alma mater proud this weekend, as he has throughout his career. Best of luck to you, Trevor!

This kid should be a first round pick. If ND didn't go 3-9, he might have had a little more exposure. Either way, some team is going to be most pleased with him. Don't expect too many teams to hype him, though. There are several NFL teams that are dying to have him, but won't bring any attention to him for fear of losing him to teams who haven't seriously considered this guy yet. He'll be the steal of the draft.

Trevor is the kind of alum we have come to expect at ND. He will be a fine roll model for kids.
I pray he is rewarded for the unselfish way he played this past season.
Go Irish, Go Trevor

I think the Pro GM's tend to wade through the hype (at least most of them). Someone like a Ted Thompson looks at the measurables and relies heavily on the interview. Of course for every TT there is poor talent evaluator as well. But just because you come from USC, it is'nt a pass to a higher draft slot. Rem: Lendale White. - Good hype, poor combine. Result: 3rd round instead of late first.

Sorry, forgot to tie the USC part in. I was thinking of the Sedrick Ellis vs Trevor comparason. Hope the previous comment makes more sense now.

Stop throwing the tackles stat around...if the f-ing offense wasn't so horrid and didn't spend more time watching Trevor Laws chase people, he wouldn't have had so many.

That said, he is still a beast.
